James A. Sharples
Director, Marketing  

Mr. Sharples brings more than 13 years of pharmaceutical experience to Marathon.

Prior to joining Marathon in 2008, Mr. Sharples held multiple commercial roles at Abbott Laboratories’ Pharmaceutical Product Division including Brand management and strategic planning roles. Mr. Sharples also led the Payor Marketing Team for Abbott’s $1.8B Dyslipidemia Franchise where he oversaw the creation and implementation of the payor strategy to ensure optimal access for patients. Mr. Sharples also had payor marketing responsibility for a major acquisition and most recently, the launch of a new cardiovascular drug.

Prior to Abbott, Mr. Sharples worked at a division of Aventis where he managed multiple analytical and marketing teams in the biologic and specialty pharmaceutical areas.

Mr. Sharples is a graduate of the Whitman School of Business at Syracuse University where he received a dual MBA in Marketing and Organizational Change and Development. He also received a BA from SUNY Binghamton.
