Marathon Pharmaceuticals Announces
Availability of Seconal Sodium^®
DEERFIELD, Illinois | January 30, 2009

Marathon Pharmaceuticals, LLC announced today the availability of Seconal Sodium^® (secobarbital). Seconal Sodium is indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia and as a preanesthetic.

Marathon acquired Seconal Sodium as part of a group of products, which included Opium Tincture, USP and Amytal Sodium,^® from Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals (NYSE: RBXY) for commercialization and development in the United States. Seconal Sodium is an oral capsule manufactured in North Brunswick, NJ.

Seconal Sodium is a Schedule II substance and may be habit forming. As with all barbiturates, tolerance, psychological and physical dependence may occur with continued use.

The most commonly observed adverse event associated with Seconal Sodium use is somnolence (drowsiness), which occurs in one to three percent of patients.¹
